Desperate Heathrow announces more pledges

With the government unable to announce a third runway at Heathrow without ignoring its own pledges, Heathrow has decided to ramp up its expansion campaign with five new pledges aimed at tempting local residents with promises that they will be better off with a bigger airport on their doorstep.

Thirteen climate change protesters who broke through a perimeter fence at Heathrow airport and caused 25 flights to be cancelled were handed six-week suspended sentences and community service at Willesden Magistrates Court on 24th February. The activists, who occupied part of a runway last July, have also been banned from Heathrow.

Government Delays Runway Decision

Residents near Heathrow could face a further nine months under threat from a third runway.

On 10th December at 7pm following an Airports Sub Committee meeting, the Government issued an online statement that it is delaying a decision on the location of a new runway for the South East to enable further assessments of the proposals to take place.
