UXBRIDGE BY-ELECTION: CANDIDATES SHY AWAY FROM BACKING HEATHROW 3RD RUNWAY

As you will undoubtedly be aware, there is a by-election taking place in the constituency of Uxbridge and South Ruislip on 20 July. As the local, Hillingdon-based group campaigning against (all forms) of Heathrow expansion, we asked each of the main party candidates for their views so we could share them with you, particularly if you are an Uxbridge and South Ruislip voter.

We are a cross-party campaign group, so we would never tell you how to vote. However, the Conservative, Liberal Democrat and Green party candidates are all strongly opposed to the project, with just Labour taking a slightly more cautious line, although they acknowledge that the current proposals failed the Party’s four tests on a third runway in 2018. However, despite this, it is quite telling that not one of the main candidates is supporting Heathrow expansion.
