Hillingdon Planning Committee Recommends Approving Easterly Take-offs
The Hillingdon Planning Committee will be meeting in the Council Chamber:-
at 7pm
on Tuesday 16th December
to consider Heathrow’s application for Easterly Alternation at the Airport. This application takes advantage of Labours end to the 1952 Cranford Agreement in 2009, and will have significant impacts upon Longford Village and all the Heathrow Villages, as for the first time since Covid, there will be non-stop noise, deadly air pollution and vibrations from take-offs on the Northern Runway heading East towards London, if the application is approved. Homes in Longford Village will be just 240 meters from the constant full blast of jet engines taking off!
Hillingdon Council originally rejected planning permission in 2014, but things have changed and it appears that the Council are now only pushing for increased protection for residents, and as such the Hillingdon Council officers have recommended approval, subject to heavy conditions around noise mitigation and environmental protection.

Photo-opportunities – come and support us!
The Hillingdon Herald newspaper is launching a new campaign called "Back the Blockers”, a play on the Government’s ‘back the builders’ slogan and relating to the third runway, in conjunction with Balcony Shirts in Uxbridge.
John McDonnell MP, David Simmonds MP and Lord John Randall have already been pictured wearing the t-shirts and will be featured on the front page of this month’s paper.
Consequently, we are arranging two photo opportunities on 16th December:
The first will take place at 3pm on Harmondsworth Village Green (postcode UB7 0AQ).
The second will take place at 6pm outside the Civic Centre in Uxbridge (postcode UB8 1UW).
Please email us for more info about either. Both will be opportunities where residents can be pictured holding up the front page of the newspaper alongside people wearing the new T-shirt.
Please spread the word amongst your contacts to let them know to gather on Harmondsworth Village Green at 3pm OR outside the Civic Centre at 6pm on Tuesday 16th December. You are of course welcome to both photo opportunities, if you would like.
The Hillingdon Herald also includes a new petition, which has been launched by the paper on the Brunel University campus, to oppose Heathrow expansion.
Here’s a link to the t-shirt.
