TIMELINE OF KEY EVENTS

Below is a timeline of various upcoming policy consultations and events that we know of. Links to key consultations will be provided as they become available. We will issue some key advice and points, compiled by ourselves and from other campaign groups that you may want to include if you are responding.

16th December 2020              Supreme Court verdict

Currently, the verdict of the Supreme Court case will take place on 16th December We will circulate the outcome.

December 2020         CAA: Public Safety Zone Consultation

There is currently a consultation running until 23rd December on the reshaping of public safety zones. It is a very technical consultation. We are currently speaking with the CAA to gather any impacts to the Heathrow area.

December 2020          DfT: Night flight restrictions consultation

Runs until 3rd March 2021.

December 2020          Climate Change Committee: 6th Carbon Budget recommendations

The CCC recommendations to the Government will be published on 9th December and will set out the volume of greenhouse gases the UK can emit in the period 2033-2037 The Government will decide whether to adopt the recommendations in 2021.

 

Early/spring 2021       DfT: Transport decarbonisation plan

Following the consultation earlier this year, the Government will outline the steps to achieve net zero emissions across all transport modes by 2050. Aviation was given a short shrift in the previous consultation. When the plan is published, we’ll sort through relevant parts.

 

 2021                           DfT: Aviation recovery plan

This consultation will set out Government policy for the aviation industry post-COVID. It may include measures such as regional connectivity, climate change and other pollution issues.
