Timeline of key information in 2020
Below is a list of key consultations and events in the campaign against Heathrow expansion throughout this year. We have tried to be as specific as possible, but please bear in mind some dates can change. There may be further additions to the list. We’ll update as best we can.
Late February 2020 Expected verdict from the Court of Appeal on the challenge to the Government’s Airports National Policy Statement.
Feb/Mar 2020 Department for Transport: Aviation Strategy 2050 White Paper expected.
Closes 28 Feb 2020 CAA Consultation: Economic regulation of Heathrow: early costs of capacity expansion. Further information on the costs Heathrow Airport expects to incur in advance of obtaining a Development Consent Order as well as the approach to spending on these early costs
Closes 4 March 2020 CAA Consultation: Minimum Requirements for Noise Modelling Consultation. Consulting on the minimum acceptable level of sophistication of noise modelling required for them to carry out our duties & to provide clarity to sponsors and stakeholders about the methodology they should use and therefore reduce ambiguity, and to provide consistency across different groups of airports.
Closes 5 March 2020 CAA Consultation: Economic regulation of Heathrow Airport Limited: further consultation on regulatory framework and financial issues
11 March 2020 Budget Day, Westminster. Look out for less grand but more meaningful infrastructure funding from the Government.
15 April – 11 June 2020 (8 weeks) Heathrow Airport: New Consultation on Expansion plans
First half of 2020 Government Climate Change Strategy (delayed from October 2019)
Spring/Summer 2020 Heathrow Airport: Consultation on Independent Parallel Approaches (25,000 extra flights per annuum before 3rd runway)
Late 2020 Heathrow Airport: Airspace Stage 2 Consultation (3rd runway flight paths), likely to last 8 weeks
Winter 2020 – Spring 2021 Heathrow expected to submit Development Consent Order
6 weeks after DCO submitted Interested Parties to register with the Planning Inspectorate
