Final proof that Lord Adonis is the village idiot
While we get ready to scrutinise the massive cost of Heathrow's huge third runway development and wade through forests of paper for the detail in the documents released as part of the government's consultation, there is bound to be some fool who hasn't grasped the magnitude of the project - and it's Lord Adonis.
While appearing on the Daily Politics on 31st January, Adonis, former Transport Secretary and now Chairman of the National Infrastructure Commission and on the Board of HS2, was fishing for a pat on the back for how plans for HS2 were chugging along. He compared the speed of the process to complete the first stage of the high-speed railway to that of trying to decide on another runway at Heathrow.
Has Lord Adonis ever looked at the proposals for Heathrow? Thought not.
Andy, if you are looking for a place where you can be the village idiot, pop down to Harmondsworth. You can meet thousands of people living under threat of losing their homes and they'd love to try to educate you about the reality of Heathrow expansion.
